I will be pounding a sandpoint well for watering my garden in about a week. I have a few questions about it.
We live in a very sandy area of Central Minnesota. I looked at my counties wat water table maps and In our area it says <10 feet. So here are a few questions I have.
1. Let's say I start getting water at 10', if I pound to 15 or 20 feet is it possible that there is no longer any water there? Or if I hit water at 10 feet...will there be water all the way down until the sand turns to clay or bedrock? If you were pounding a sandpoint and hit water at 5-10 feet...would you pound it further I guess is what I am asking because 5-10 feet seems super shallow.
2. I plan to buy an electric pump with a 5 gallon pressure tank attached. But am I also supposed to buy a pitcher hand pump just for testing purposes as I am trying to find water? When I hit water, is there a good way to know if it will be sufficient to be running sprinklers on with an electric pump? I have about a 50'x100' garden, and will need a few different zones worth of sprinkler heads.
Thanks for your time.
