Yeah. We have no electricity and use wood I cut for basically everything. Sometimes we buy a load or two in the dead of winter due to poor insulation, but we’ll fix that problem this year. We heat and cook with wood and use it to heat water. In the summer we cook with gas. I’m not quite “down” with my current home but electricity is not something i miss. About the only thing i use it for is permies, lol.

Hi, I am 17f, almost 18, and have no friends.
- I have many skills including foraging, plant knowledge, wood heat, cooking, cleaning, housework, and crafts.
-My religion is nature. I revere the sun, earth and nature spirits.
-I have a strong work ethic and am not afraid to get dirty cleaning, hauling, hoeing, etc. I have a summer job at a diner. I am a minimalist.
-I want to be a small farmer when I get access to some turf.
-I am looking for teens /20s yo’s who share my values to talk to as “purple mooseage pen pals”and maybe eventually as in person friends. I currently live in Michigan but don’t intend to stay. I might move to North Carolina, but that is very much a maybe.Long distance trips are not generally feasible for me unless I’m moving.
I live off grid. It gets very cold in winter. But, i can’t live without showers. So here is what I do:
Take 2 plastic gallon jugs full of water.
Pour 1 in a kettle and put it on the woodstove until very hot.
Pour 1/2 of the cold gallon into the empty jug, Pour the hot in. Make sure its nice and toasty in the house. Spray hair with water & shampoo if washing hair, Get a wet soapy  rag. Undress and go outside ( on a fenced in spot for privacy), wash and rinse with warm water. 2 gallons is enough for a full shower for me, but you could do more if you need it. I know it sounds cold, but the key is hot water. I have done this in 10 F and it was fine. I do this all the time, its easy!

I have been keeping cutting wood in the morning in the winter since we did’nt have enough wood. I started chopping wood too since we got a load of big hunks of wood from neighbor. This morning i did both.
