We just bought 20 acres in southern Ohio that has an existing spring fed water system, that is currently inoperable.
There was two double wide mobile homes that have been removed. This spring fed system was the only water system for both homes.
I plan to use it for only one.
What I have:
A water manifold (valve) box where the main line comes in and is split to the former homes.
This main line is a 1.5” poly line that goes up a ~200’ hillside where it was disconnected from the spring (poly line is laying cut in the woods).
After some exploration, I believe I found the spring head.
It goes into a concrete box (spring box?) and from there is piped into an underground concrete storage (cistern) box (size unknown).
When standing above this box, I can hear water running into it the spring box.
It is my assumption that the poly line connects to this storage box somewhere, but i have yet to find the outlet (will take further exploration).
I have attached photos of the spring box and cistern
I’m looking for advice on what to look for and watch out for as I try to get this system working again.
Welcome to permies and congrats on being able to connect with land! Hopefully others who are more knowledgeible about this will write back to you soon.
I do Celtic, fantasy, folk and shanty singing at Renaissance faires, fantasy festivals, pirate campouts, and other events in OR and WA, USA.
