Hello ! I’m Magdalene (/Mags)
I’ve been here at Wheaton Labs as a boot for 3 weeks now. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed all the lovely people I’ve met here and they’ve helped me feel right at home since my first day. I came with little to no experience with the kind of labor and projects we do here, but everyone has been very patient and I’m learning all the time. I can feel myself getting stronger 💪

Today is gardening day 🌱 I’ve been really enjoying gardening days when everyone in the bootcamp is together. My heart felt so warmed as I was walking the watering can back to my hugel and I saw a sunny, smiling face around every corner. I felt very grateful to be here, and the sense of camaraderie as we were all working quietly alongside each other.
I think it has taken me about 3 weeks to feel really settled into things and to get acclimated to the pace of work and activity. Now I feel more able to sink into each moment and my surroundings.

Today is the first time since my stay that the temperature has gotten into the 90’s. I think we’re all feeling pretty cooked. A few of the other boots are taking a trip to go swim and cool off, but alas, the sun zapped my energy! And I cannot join...
I’ve been trying to strike the balance between activity and rest, social time and solitude. Energy has always been a hard thing to come by in my adulthood. I haven’t quite found it, but I figure if I continue listening to my body I’ll get there.
I’ve been working a lot on cobbing at the new greenhouse. It’s now getting down to the finishing touches! Josiah requested that a design be put in the cob that’s above the door as you enter. I’m excited at the opportunity for artistic contribution and grateful for the trust that’s been put in me to do a good job 🙂

Ahhh, Friday. It was a good end to the week with a lemonade party this morning to celebrate the windows of the greenhouse being installed and then a pizza party for dinner just cause. I really enjoy the people I’m surrounded by here

So you are working on the sunflower at the greenhouse, cool! I saw that at the last wofati greenhouse zoom call.

It's great to see the artistic additions to the greenhouse, I hope the enjoyment/fun factor is as great as the learning factor! I'm also looking forward to meeting all the new people who have joined since July 2019 when I was last there. There's a ton of potential on the lab, and I can't wait until I move up there next spring!
